Associated Press Release on main site.
The council tax figures for English local authorities for 2004/05 were released on 25 March 2004 and revised on 29 March 2004 (see note below).
All tables have subsequently been revised to account for revised figures received from Cheltenham and the six authorities that were capped in-year: Fenland, Herefordshire, Nottingham, Shepway, Torbay and Hereford & Worcester Fire Authority.
The capping of Hereford & Worcester Fire Authority had an effect upon the area council taxes payable to the districts of Worcestershire, although the district councils themselves were not capped.

Note on Council Tax figures
Some of the council tax figures published by ODPM on Thursday 25 March 2004 were incorrect. The figures concerned were area council tax (Column 8 of Table 2) for 53 authorities. We wrote to all councils concerned with an apology.
Revised figures were published on Monday 29 March 2004. In all cases the discrepancy was less than one percentage point. There was no effect on the overall headline figures released.
This had absolutely no relevance to any of the figures that were considered when Ministers make decisions on capping principles.
The mistake was due to a minor statistical error caused by a very particular set of circumstances this year - namely, the fact that combined fire authorities are precepting authorities for the first time. The figures for 2003/04 that were used to calculate the increase incorrectly included a technical adjustment to take account of this change.
Revised 14 October 2005
